Muriel Hurn Barnett Genealogy and Local History Room
Our local history room is named in memory of Muriel Barnett. Muriel was a long time member of the Friends of the Library and instrumental in advancing library service in Rogersville. One of her passions was family history. She researched her own family history and served on the Lauderdale County Heritage Book Committee. Muriel urged the Friends of the Library to research and publish the book The Cemeteries of East Lauderdale County, as a fund raiser for the Library. Under her leadership our genealogy collection was started and increased in size until space was needed to house it. In the September of 2006 the Rogersville Town Council passed a resolution dedicating the Muriel Hurn Barnett Genealogy and Local History Room in her honor. Muriel passed away in 2007.
